Three rules that prevent almost every problem

Copy the install command and paste it into Terminal. Don't tap the link inside it.
On the last screen you pick one channel. If you pick WhatsApp, don't scan the QR code: just send the code in the chat.
Keep the setup window open until it says everything is connected.

1. Open Terminal

On a Mac, press Cmd + Space, type Terminal and press Enter. A small window with text opens. That's Terminal, and there's nothing to worry about. (On Windows? See below.)

2. Paste the install command

The TextMyWorker bot (on WhatsApp: +972 55-315-3190) sends the command as a separate message, on its own, after the explanation. Long-press it and choose Copy. It's easiest to open the chat on your computer too (WhatsApp Web, Telegram or the app) and copy it from there.

On a Mac it looks like this:

Is your line a bit longer than the example? That's your personal key. Copy the whole line, exactly as it is.

Paste it into Terminal (Cmd+V) and press Enter. If your computer asks for a password, it's your computer's password. Type it (it doesn't show on screen, that's normal) and press Enter.

On Windows

Press the Windows key, type PowerShell and press Enter. Paste the line the bot sent (Ctrl+V or right-click) and press Enter. It looks like this:

From there, everything is the same as the next steps.

3. Go through the setup window

After a few seconds a TextMyWorker window opens. Pick English and click Next at each step.

Connect to Claude: if a browser opens and asks you to sign in, sign in to your Claude account and approve.
Where should it work: to start safely, pick Just try it (a small sample project) or One project with one folder. You can always widen it later.

4. Connect your phone (the important one)

The last screen asks Where do you want to talk to your worker? Pick one channel: WhatsApp or Telegram.

WhatsApp: a QR code and a short 4-character code appear (for example AB12). Don't scan the QR code. On your phone, open the chat with TextMyWorker (+972 55-315-3190) and send it just the code.
Telegram: scan the QR code with your phone's camera, the bot opens in Telegram, and tap Start.
After a few seconds the window on your computer updates on its own, and your worker messages you.

5. First test

Send your worker:

Hi, what can you do for me?

Then something from your work, for example:

Make me a spreadsheet to track clients and payments

Draft a quote for a new client from the details I'll send

Sum up this document in a few lines

Good to know

Your worker runs on your computer, so the computer has to stay on, online and plugged in.
Keep your Mac from sleeping: System Settings, Battery, Options, and turn on "Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off".
When your worker sends an approval button for a sensitive action, tap it within a few minutes.
Want it to stop? Send stop.
Something stopped halfway? Run the same install command again.

After setup you can use the textmyworker command in Terminal (open a new Terminal window):

textmyworker update
textmyworker pause
textmyworker resume

The first updates to the latest version, the second turns your worker off for a while, and the third brings it back.
